Biomedical engineers at Emory and Georgia Tech, working with colleagues at Northwestern University, were awarded a $1 million grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
Two faculty members from the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University have been awarded research fellowships from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
Grant will support the development of new strategies to help restore movement to people who are paralyzed, including those affected by spinal cord injury and stroke.
With support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), scientists at Emory and Georgia Tech, Northwestern and the University of Chicago will use advanced “machine learning” techniques to decode the complex languages of the nervous system.
